Nettle

Hand knotted in Nepal at 100 knots per inch. Nettle or "Allo" as it is known in Nepal is similar to Hemp in that it is a strong natural fiber used in fabrics, rope and hand made rugs. Entirely untreated and undyed, it has an earthy tone, slightly darker than hemp and not as ochre in hue. Nettle is slightly softer as well, and consequently it is easier on the weavers' fingers.

Base tones of slate olive and chestnut with some cut and loop designs, and some cut pile patterns. An unusal mix of flora and fauna motifs found underfoot in the springtime woods.
