ALTO Steps
Imagine a handmade rug for every step…
Alto Steps are a fun, attractive and modular solution for your stairs. They prevent slipping, soften the noise, show off the woodwork, and can be arranged in any sequence.
We offer standard Alto Steps which are 9x26 inches, and have introduced some Alto Wide Steps which are 9.5x36 inches. Standard steps come in two different qualities; our Tibetan Steps are hand knotted in Nepal, and made from the finest Himalayan wool. Our Hand Tufted Steps are made in India with New Zealand wool. We also offer standard Alto steps in natural Hemp and Nettle fiber.
Alto Steps are available in sets of 12 or individually. Many sets include solids and patterns. Designed to be compatible in every possible combination, they can be arranged to create a unique transition from one floor to the next.
Custom colors and shaped pieces such as winders, and L-shaped landings may be ordered, provided shapes and designs are suitable for the hand knotting or hand tufting process. Silk, nettle, hemp, and other natural fibres can also be specified.

In addition to Shimmo shown above, we also have new Barberry Alto Steps along with matching runners and landings. Barberry is part of our Black Sheep Collection using only natural sheep tones of black and white. They are hand knotted in Nepal at 100 knots per inch. Although Barberry is not a new design, we have never offered it in Tibetan quality rugs and steps until now.
